Black and white Layout

This has to be one of my favorite layouts, titled You are the footprint of my heart. Probably because of the simplicity of the colors and the footprints of my son.  I started with a blank white 12×12 paper..then I started layering gray and black papers on top of one another and even used a sheet of paper from a notebook I had. From there, the layering continued with the footprints, photo and embellishments. There is something so pure about black and white…I love it.

I was psyched about the tiny pieces of ribbon, choo-choo train chipboard and the stamped feathers.

Here is a closer look:

Supplies used: doily, wood bingo motifs, farmhouse sew brads,  toy box chipboard, washi tape Studio Calico, blank smash pad, love struck stamp, silver flower, black clip, grey journal page ornate, ticket stub, transparencies, black and white layered flower embellishment, Le pen black, rub ons, buttons, white paper.

Thanks for looking!

Dyeing Doilies

Lately I have been doing alot of scrapbooking and have noticed that doilies are really getting alot of attention these days on scrappy websites. I love the feminine touch of a doily to not only my albums but to gift wrapping, favors, and more. So when I saw this post on Martha Stewart about dyeing doilies, I just had to try it…and I’m so glad I did! They turned out so pastel-y and pretty!

I bought a pack of 35 doilies for $2 at Hobby Lobby….not bad!

By the way..here are some of my favorite doily scrapbooking stuff:

These vintage cut wood doilies from Maya Road are my fav…so much you can do with them! Find them here

December Daily 2011 – last few pages

A few more additions to my merry little album!

December and the holidays remind me all things sweet and warm like coffee and cookies! I had to put a page in about the cookie exchange!

A snowglobe pocket that was stapled  instead of glued and a doily for a fun twist

Next few pages are still empty…waiting for the next few days to happen so I can chronicle them!

A paper bag from Starbucks as a page…I thought the kraft bag was nice…I just trimmed the bottom and top off a bit to fit my album

I really hope you enjoyed my version of a December Daily album! Merry Christmas!

December Daily 2011- more pages

Here are the next few pages of my album:

I love this quote from the movie Elf with Will Ferrel!

This page talks about the day we put xmas lights on the house and the Santa tag on the next page is an actual gift tag I got from West Elm when I bought a wreath that night!

I found this print on Etsy…I printed it and added red glitter to the heart….it really sums up the holidays for me.

I used some washi tape above.  Crate paper chipboard was used on the following page…I made a mini pocket page and inserted the next two days journaling in  it.

December Daily 2011 – pages 1-4

Here are a few photos of the inside of my album. I really enjoyed making these pages…they’re smaller than a 12×12 album and thus easier to create but lots of fun to make since tiny details are so cute. My album is 6×6 which I chose on purpose so all I would have to do is is cut a 12×12 sheet of scrapbook paper with two cuts.

Used Ali Edwards free printable from 2010 and changed the year to 2011, I added pink and purple Martha Stewart glitter with paper glaze and attached a silver leather ribbon I had in my stash with the tiny attacher. The inside cover was glued with snowflake paper that I found at Michaels.

Above: I used paper from Jillibean Soup Christmas Eve Chowder, an actual Starbucks sleeve from a sample of Gingerbread latte.

Back of the sleeve and next page…

Close up of my Starbucks sleeve and the photo…that snowflake is from a Martha Stewart punch I picked up on Black friday!

New few pages: photos I took of the yarn tree at Gap while I shoped on Black friday and one of my son playing with xmas lights. I punched the edge of the paper and then added some punched snowflakes and a tiny dash of pink glitter goodness to the middle…I love the jolly bingo card on the opposite page as well.

Scrapbook Holiday 2011 paper collections

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I know I did…extra calories and all. I put my tree up over the weekend and it got me thinking about doing a December Daily album. It would be my first time…read more about them here. Its a wondeful way to chronicle the countdown to Christmas.

I’ve also been thinking about crafting my own holiday cards to mail to family and friends. So naturally, I started to look into the newest Christmas scrapbooking lines. I am in a whimsical kinda mood for my cards this year…I don’t go the traditional route just cause I like bright bold graphics and something pink is always in demand!

Below are some of the lines I love so far: Crate Paper Peppermint, Echo Park Holly Jolly Christmas, My Mind’s Eye 12 Days of Christmas, and October Afternoon Holiday Style.

Witches Hat

Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble. – Shakespeare

This quote says it all….Halloween is almost here!

I was inspired. I just had to try it. I loved making this craft. It’s definitely one of the most fun projects I’ve done. I saw this witches hat on Pink Paislee blog and I wanted to grab my broom and fly right out and buy all the supplies. 🙂 And so I did.

Here is the orignal from Pink Paislee:

And here is the one I created:  (sorry for the fuzzy pic!) I wanted my hat to be just orange, black and white. I followed the instructions on the blog but tweaked a few things and used whatever I had on hand at home.

A few more closeups. I took a plastic spider ring, cut the bottom part off, applied modge podge to the spider and sprinkled some black glitter on it.

I used ribbon and punched paper around the cone and the base. I had some black crepe paper that I used for the center medallion and the base. I also punched some round circles from orange cardstock and inked the edges with black and layered them onto the base create a scallop design. I love the pom-pom ribbon on the base and the Boo Spooky ribbon that I hot glued right above it.

The center medallion is a 3.5 inch scallop punch that was inked with black edges and then I used orange ink to made it look weathered, next I punched a 2.5 inch circle, inked it and applied orange gems to it and topped it with a happy Halloween sticker embellishment.
